- converts the 1/2" BSP (13/16"-14) beer port some G and U couplers carry to the 5/8" BSP (7/8"-14) standard
Used on: on G and U system couplers whose beer port is 13/16-14, to accept standard 7/8-14 shank hardware and tailpieces.
Some G and U couplers carry a 1/2 BSP (13/16-14) beer port rather than the usual 5/8 BSP (7/8-14), so a standard beer nut or tailpiece will not thread on directly. This adapter converts 13/16-14 up to 7/8-14. Check your coupler port before buying tailpieces, because the G and U heads are the common exception to the 5/8 BSP rule.
Flare fittings seal on the 45 degree flare face and must never be taped. Push-in fittings seal on an O-ring against the tube wall and need the tube cut square. Barbs seal under a worm clamp. Getting the sealing method right matters more than the thread label, because most homebrew leaks are a taped flare or an unclamped barb.
