- the coupler for one-way KeyKeg and DSI-valve kegs, common in craft and cider
Used on: KeyKeg-packaged beer and cider from breweries that ship in the recyclable bag-in-ball KeyKeg format.
A KeyKeg uses its own DSI valve, so a normal Sanke D, S or A coupler will not tap it; you fit a KeyKeg or DSI coupler. Once coupled, the dispense side is the familiar 5/8 BSP thread, so beer and gas line connect exactly as on any other coupler. Pick the head by the keg valve, then connect line by the thread.
Flare fittings seal on the 45 degree flare face and must never be taped. Push-in fittings seal on an O-ring against the tube wall and need the tube cut square. Barbs seal under a worm clamp. Getting the sealing method right matters more than the thread label, because most homebrew leaks are a taped flare or an unclamped barb.
