Connect CGA-580 nitrogen / beer-gas cylinder valve to Nitrogen / beer-gas regulator
How to join 0.965"-14 NGO RH and CGA-580 inlet, 5/16" barb out, and what stops it leaking.
These connect directly. CGA-580 nitrogen / beer-gas cylinder valve mates with Nitrogen / beer-gas regulator without an adapter.
The two ends
- End A
- CGA-580 nitrogen / beer-gas cylinder valve (0.965"-14 NGO RH)

- Nitrogen / beer-gas regulator (CGA-580 inlet, 5/16" barb out)
- A seals on
- nylon or fibre washer inside the nut against the valve outlet
- B seals on
- washer in the CGA-580 nut on the tank; barb under a worm clamp or flare on its face at the outlet

A nitrogen or beer-gas regulator already carries a CGA-580 inlet nut, so it screws straight onto a CGA-580 nitrogen, argon or beer-gas cylinder. The nut seals on a captive washer against the tank outlet, no adapter between them.
The CGA-580 nut seals on its washer, not on tape, and it is right hand like CGA-320, unlike some fuel gases. A hiss at the inlet is almost always a missing or hardened washer, so keep a spare fibre washer rather than overtightening the nut.
