Connect Nitrogen / beer-gas regulator to 5/16" barb (gas)
How to join CGA-580 inlet, 5/16" barb out and 5/16" hose barb, and what stops it leaking.
These connect directly. Nitrogen / beer-gas regulator mates with 5/16" barb (gas) without an adapter.
The two ends
- End A
- Nitrogen / beer-gas regulator (CGA-580 inlet, 5/16" barb out)
- End B
- 5/16" barb (gas) (5/16" hose barb)
- A seals on
- washer in the CGA-580 nut on the tank; barb under a worm clamp or flare on its face at the outlet
- B seals on
- barb ridges plus a worm clamp on the hose

A nitrogen or beer-gas regulator outlet is usually a 5/16 barb, so 5/16 gas line pushes straight on under a worm clamp, exactly like a CO2 regulator. Some carry a 1/4 MFL flare outlet instead, which takes an FFL swivel.
The gas mix is what makes this a nitro setup, not the fitting, which looks identical to a CO2 one. Check whether your regulator outlet is a 5/16 barb or a 1/4 MFL flare before buying line ends, and run beer-gas, not pure CO2, into a nitro keg.
