Connect US beer nut (hex tailpiece nut) to Beer tailpiece (barb + hex)
How to join 7/8"-14 (1" hex) and 7/8"-14 nut, 1/4" or 3/16" barb, and what stops it leaking.
These connect directly. US beer nut (hex tailpiece nut) mates with Beer tailpiece (barb + hex) without an adapter.
The two ends
- End A
- US beer nut (hex tailpiece nut) (7/8"-14 (1" hex))
- End B
- Beer tailpiece (barb + hex) (7/8"-14 nut, 1/4" or 3/16" barb)
- A seals on
- compresses a rubber washer between the tailpiece and the shank end
- B seals on
- flat washer against the shank end under the beer nut; barb under a worm clamp on the hose
- Part needed
- none, direct fit
A beer nut and a tailpiece are a pair: the tailpiece drops through the beer nut and the nut draws its shoulder against the shank end, trapping a washer between them. Tighten the nut and the barb points out ready for beer line.
The washer between the tailpiece and the shank does the sealing, so a weeping joint means a missing, cut or flattened washer, not a loose thread. Do not overtighten to stop a drip; replace the washer.
