Connect US beer nut (hex tailpiece nut) to 5/8" BSP beer thread (shank / coupler)
How to join 7/8"-14 (1" hex) and 5/8" BSP (7/8"-14 nut), and what stops it leaking.
These connect directly. US beer nut (hex tailpiece nut) mates with 5/8" BSP beer thread (shank / coupler) without an adapter.
The two ends

A US beer nut is 7/8-14 internal thread, the exact thread US shops loosely call 5/8 BSP on a shank, so the nut runs straight onto the back of a shank or a Sanke coupler port. It squeezes a washer to seal, it does not seal on the thread.
The 5/8 BSP label and the 7/8-14 nut are the same US beer thread described two ways, which trips up buyers. Match the nut to the shank thread and rely on the washer for the seal; taping a beer nut thread does nothing useful.
