Connect Faucet coupling nut to US beer nut (hex tailpiece nut)

How to join 7/8"-14 (faucet to shank) and 7/8"-14 (1" hex), and what stops it leaking.

Not compatible. Faucet coupling nut and US beer nut (hex tailpiece nut) do not share a mating thread, so there is no adapter between them; fit the part that matches your hardware.

The two ends

End B
US beer nut (hex tailpiece nut) (7/8"-14 (1" hex))
A seals on
metal to metal as the nut draws the faucet body onto the shank nose
B seals on
compresses a rubber washer between the tailpiece and the shank end

matched replacement, no adapter exists

The part to buy

A faucet coupling nut locks a faucet onto the front of a shank and a beer nut secures a tailpiece onto the back; both are 7/8-14 but they sit on opposite ends of the shank and are not interchangeable in use. You need one of each, not two of the same.

They share a thread, which is why people mix them up in a parts bin, but the faucet nut is knurled for the faucet body and the beer nut is a hex that traps a washer. Order the front nut and the back nut as a pair for a shank build.
