Connect Sanke D coupler (American Sankey) to 5/16" barb (gas)
How to join type D, G5/8 ports and 5/16" hose barb, and what stops it leaking.
These connect directly. Sanke D coupler (American Sankey) mates with 5/16" barb (gas) without an adapter.
The two ends
- End A
- Sanke D coupler (American Sankey) (type D, G5/8 ports)
- End B
- 5/16" barb (gas) (5/16" hose barb)
- A seals on
- flat washer on each threaded port; barbs seal under a worm clamp
- B seals on
- barb ridges plus a worm clamp on the hose
- Part needed
- none, direct fit
The gas-in side of a Sanke D coupler is fitted with a 5/16 barb, so 5/16 CO2 line pushes straight on under a worm clamp. The coupler's check valve sits behind it to stop beer backing up the gas line.
Use 5/16 gas line here and clamp it. The gas barb is one size up from the 1/4 beer barb on purpose; forcing 1/4 line onto the 5/16 gas barb gives a slow CO2 leak that empties a cylinder overnight.
