The 88 gram cartridge commonly uses the 3/8-24 UNF thread, the same thread as the 16 gram size but on a larger body, so a holder made for one thread can accept both sizes only if it physically clears the longer cartridge. Check the holder length as well as the thread before buying an 88g pack.
Flare fittings seal on the 45 degree flare face and must never be taped. Push-in fittings seal on an O-ring against the tube wall and need the tube cut square. Barbs seal under a worm clamp. Getting the sealing method right matters more than the thread label, because most homebrew leaks are a taped flare or an unclamped barb.
