Connect MFL male flare (1/4") to 1/4" barb (liquid)
How to join 1/4" MFL (7/16"-20 UNF) and 1/4" hose barb, and what stops it leaking.
These connect directly. MFL male flare (1/4") mates with 1/4" barb (liquid) without an adapter.
The two ends
- End A
- MFL male flare (1/4") (1/4" MFL (7/16"-20 UNF))
- End B
- 1/4" barb (liquid) (1/4" hose barb)
- A seals on
- metal 45 degree flare face, never PTFE tape
- B seals on
- barb ridges plus a worm clamp on the hose
- Part needed
- none, direct fit
A 1/4 MFL barb swivel is one part: an MFL flare thread on one end and a 1/4 hose barb on the other, so it connects a flare disconnect straight to 1/4 vinyl beer line. The flare end seals on its face, the barb end seals under a worm clamp.
Two different seals on one part. The flare needs no tape and the barb needs a clamp. People clamp fine but forget the flare is metal-to-metal and try to tape it, which stops it seating.
