Used on: beer-out line on a black liquid disconnect, tailpieces behind faucets and shanks.
The 1/4 barb is the liquid side. It takes 3/16 or 1/4 inch ID vinyl beer line pushed on warm and secured with a stainless worm clamp. It is not a push-fit, so the clamp is what stops it blowing off under pressure.
Flare fittings seal on the 45 degree flare face and must never be taped. Push-in fittings seal on an O-ring against the tube wall and need the tube cut square. Barbs seal under a worm clamp. Getting the sealing method right matters more than the thread label, because most homebrew leaks are a taped flare or an unclamped barb.
