Used on: behind a shank or on a coupler beer-out where a straight tailpiece would foul the wall or a neighbouring keg.
The elbow tailpiece does the tailpiece job but bends the line 90 degrees, which saves depth behind a faucet or between kegs. Its 5/8 G (BSP) nut seals on a washer against the shank or coupler, and the 5/16 barb takes line under a clamp, so it swaps in for a straight tailpiece without changing the shank.
Flare fittings seal on the 45 degree flare face and must never be taped. Push-in fittings seal on an O-ring against the tube wall and need the tube cut square. Barbs seal under a worm clamp. Getting the sealing method right matters more than the thread label, because most homebrew leaks are a taped flare or an unclamped barb.
