Connect Ball-lock quick disconnect to MFL male flare (1/4")
How to join ball-lock QD, MFL or barb tail and 1/4" MFL (7/16"-20 UNF), and what stops it leaking.
These connect directly. Ball-lock quick disconnect mates with MFL male flare (1/4") without an adapter.
The two ends
- End A
- Ball-lock quick disconnect (ball-lock QD, MFL or barb tail)

- MFL male flare (1/4") (1/4" MFL (7/16"-20 UNF))
- A seals on
- O-ring seals over the post shoulder; the tail seals by flare or clamp
- B seals on
- metal 45 degree flare face, never PTFE tape

A ball-lock disconnect with an MFL tail already presents a 1/4 male flare, so it screws straight into any FFL swivel, flare tee or regulator flare outlet. Nothing sits between them; the flare faces seal as you tighten the swivel.
The MFL tail seals on its 45 degree face, so never tape it. If a disconnect-to-flare joint weeps, reseat the swivel square rather than adding tape, which only holds the flare off its seat.
