Where 19/32"-18 UNF is used, its real dimensions, and how to connect it to other keg fittings.
Published dimensions
- Designation
- 19/32"-18 UNF
- Size / thread
- 19/32"-18 UNF (about 15.1 mm major)
- Fitting form
- UNF male post thread
- Seals on
- poppet inside the post; the post base O-ring seals to the keg lid
- Rating / role
- gas post and liquid post share the thread; the disconnect snaps over the outside, not the thread
Used on: Cornelius-made ball-lock and pin-lock corny kegs.
The disconnect does not screw onto the post, it snaps over the post shoulder. The 19/32-18 thread is where the post screws into the keg lid, so it only matters when you unscrew a post to replace it or a poppet.
Flare fittings seal on the 45 degree flare face and must never be taped. Push-in fittings seal on an O-ring against the tube wall and need the tube cut square. Barbs seal under a worm clamp. Getting the sealing method right matters more than the thread label, because most homebrew leaks are a taped flare or an unclamped barb.
