The 6.3mm bore on a 9.5mm wall takes the larger 9.5mm push-in fittings and will not seat in an 8mm collet. Its wider bore lowers pour resistance on long runs, which is why UK 3/8 dispense favours it. Step down to the 8mm line only through a proper reducer, not by forcing tube.

Flare fittings seal on the 45 degree flare face and must never be taped. Push-in fittings seal on an O-ring against the tube wall and need the tube cut square. Barbs seal under a worm clamp. Getting the sealing method right matters more than the thread label, because most homebrew leaks are a taped flare or an unclamped barb.
